Amir Yavariabdi has been an assistant professor in Mechatronics Engineering at KTO Karatay University since February 2015. He received the B.Sc. degree in Electrical and Electronic engineering from the Eastern Mediterranean University, Famagusta, Northern Cyprus, in 2009. He took the M.Sc. degree with First Class Honours in Electronic Systems with Communication sciences from the University of Warwick, U.K., in 2010. In 2014, he completed his PhD in the Advanced Laparoscopy and Computer Vision (ALCoV) group at the University of Auvergne, France, under supervision of Prof. Adrien Bartoli and Dr. Chafik Samir.

Amir is with a solid research background in computer vision, machine learning, and image/video analysis algorithms and teaching portfolio. He has experience with methods for deformable image registration (intensity-based and feature-based), 3D reconstruction (stereo Vision and depth from defocus), feature extraction and matching, segmentation, change detection, and super-resolution. Besides this, He has good knowledge of most computer vision aspects like dynamic vision (tracking) and 3D modeling.

Currently, his research focuses on deep learning methods for satellite change detection, handwritten text classification, human pose estimation, plate detection and recognition, drone detection and tracking, and moving target tracking from a flying UAV.
