Lab technician position


The Yao lab in the Cardiovascular Research Institute is looking for a highly motivated Laboratory Technician to perform multiple duties in support of a laboratory studying cardiovascular disease and RNA biology. The individual will be expected to achieve the ability to function independently. Excellent organizational skills and the ability to multi-task are required. Primary duties will include mouse colony management and related tasks after a series of proper training by animal facility and lab personnel. This position will also be responsible for lab ordering, paperwork handling, and basic maintenance. All necessary training will be provided, however experience in mammalian cell culture, basic molecular biology, biochemistry and mouse handling are a plus. The individual will be expected to achieve the ability to function independently and perform multiple tasks daily. General guidance from the PI with latitude for exercising considerable independent judgment of handling lab business. This position has no official supervisory responsibility but will involve orienting and training lab members.
