The Call

A Non Rhyming Poem Inspired By An Image

Little Orange Dragoness made this image for me.

Not long after, my muse activated and the result was this poem.

The Call

The sky calls

Can you hear it ?

Yes, even in your very bones

You do

Who among the children of the sky cannot ?

Your wings itch to be full of the wind

Your tail cries out, to float over the open sky

And your heart

Your heart

It is ready to sing

To cry out loud, and answer

"I hear your call and I come"

Eager legs shiver with adrenaline

Moments pass and then none more can be borne

You spring aloft, wings snapping open

And in that same motion, completing their first wing beat

And then

Then you fly

You fly on high

And make love to the wind

Which kisses your supple scales

From nose to tail

And aloft

You nestle as you soar

In the loving gentle hands of God

The one who gave you to the sky

And the sky to you

From your long capacious throat erupts

The sound of your joy

The voice HE gave you

You wheel and soar aloft

You are where you belong

You are home
