Students design and create wonderful products, which are inspired by their cultural heritage.

It requires a full understanding of what culture actually means.

Culture describes the development and organisation of human societies.

Culture can be ethnic, religious or historical, and includes the values, beliefs and ways people live.

(Sub-cultures are yet another fascinating aspect of human society.)

2018

Alex designed and created this very cool skirt reflecting her Scottish ancestry. Mikaela has produced a wonderful take on the Filipino bodice sleeve,beautiful linen

Sherena brought her Tongan culture to a velvet sheath dress through attached tapa cloth. It looks stunning on her!

2017

Josephine has created a cool tote bag, inspired by her Tongan heritage.

She has tie-dyed fabric to reflect tapa cloth, then screen printed fab pacifika patterns in gold paint. Amy focused on her Scottish heritage. She researched plaid fabric, then painted her own idea of an abstract style of plaid design. Very effective.

Sylvia designed and constructed a wonderful dress garment, which expressed her Tongan and Samoan heritage. Her screenprinting is quite exquisite.

2014

Caryl's Filipino-inspired garment incorporated aspects of the traditional baro't saya and the barong tagalog, creating a highly suitable contemporary dress

Foi constructed a cool screen-printed hoodie, which

expresses both her Tongan & Catholic cultural background, Zoe focused on her Irish ancestry. It may not be easy to see, but she printed a celtic symbol on the chiffon shirt. Fabulous work, a born designer, that girl.

Lovely summer dress made by Gabby, reflecting her Cherry, created her contemporary version of a Korean hanbok.,another born designer! Maori heritage.

Fantastic 2017 Year 9 students painting designs for their skirt projects, which reflect cultural heritage. They had such fun!
