School Craft Group

Craft Group is all about students coming together to work on craft projects that help, encourage and support other people in some way. The senior students involved provide leadership. The teachers involved provide guidance and skills knowledge.

Craft Group is a wonderful way to "use hands, heart and head to create craft with a constructive cause."

2021: First project Minecraft Plushies. Lots of fun.

The second project was the Canary Craftivist Project, which I have presented in my 'People Participation Projects' section.

When they were all completed, I packaged them up and delivered to pre-school & primary school next door. Everyone was so grateful. A buzz!

2020: Lost images from this year's activities. We were a bit thrown out by Pandemic Lockdown experience. We did make some darling Baby Beanies. The plan was to give to Starship Hospital, but I have finally realised they have high specifications, and it is difficult for us to meet them. I gave the bag of Baby Beanies to Salvation Army, Mt Albert Road, and the young woman was so positive about them.

2019: Got the Ranong pencil cases project completed, stationery organised, packaged up and sent away.

A wonderful photo of appreciation from the Ranong students!

New project "Silky Pillows" for breast cancer patients

Time to stuff the cushions.

Now, presenting the cushions to The Cancer Society. Well done Craft Group. We care by creating!

2018: Create buntings, in the school house colours, expressing the school focus for this year 'Family Spirit'

Shopping tote bags project.

Donated fabric, cut and constructed into lined shopping bags.

The screen printed message expresses our concern regard the Anthropocene Age we are currently living in.

Hoping to sell them and give all the proceeds to Father Frank's Ranong School. (We sold them all and gave Father Frank $105.00)

Craft Group also participated in a 'Positive Fabric Post-It Note' project. We got many of them completed and the girls posted the results around the school environment.

2017: Create little patchwork baby blankets for Starship Hospital. Stitch something positive and loving, and we'll sew them together into a baby's blanket.

We finally got them made and presented to Starship Hospital's Special Unit for Babies.

2016: 'Presence' bunting in the school colours project.

The Ranong School pencil cases project.

Ranong School, on the border of Thailand and Burma, is our Mission School.

The students made up a number of zipped pencil cases, the staff provided the stationery and the postage.

This helped provide students, who otherwise have very little, start off the school year prepared to work.

An extremely satisfying and worthwhile project.

So good to see young women joyful and happy to help others through craft.
