... expressing 21st Century Needlewoman.

2020

Year 10 start the year project, this time the theme "Monsters are not what they seem" Fun needlework.

2019

My Yr.13 students have completed the first "ensemble' for their 'A Small Fashion Collection' project. I love both results.

Xinyi's is sporty looking, with a musical theme. Sylvia was going for oversized look with sustainability at the fore.

Love how Sylvia has pieced all these parts of old jeans together, different denims, different colours and the original pockets in cool out of the way places.

Well done girls, you are both wonderful 21st century needlewomen. Keep at it.

A great Yr.10 class. They really worked hard on their pin cushion project, with wonderful results....the brief was for a theme of "Something Familiar" and the product had to have form. These 4 students are definitely 21st Century Needlewomen. Thank you girls, please keep creating in fabric!

2018

A Year 7 class has just finished their first project, which demonstrates ' 21st C. Needlewomen' skills....

Stitching my name and an image, that expresses something about me, plus sewing on a button!

Extension exercise, creating a fabric dinosaur. Cool button sewn on for the eye.

2017

Year 7 'Needlewomen' work.

First project: A Name Tag. Express yourself using needle, thread and fabric.

Great needle work by Leticia, expressing her passions, music and ballet.

I think Lucy loves her cat!

I love how Mihalia has used stem stitches on the rainbow, and a great button makes the sun.

One of the positive aspects of this small project is the specification, 'a button must be sewn on.' The student has learnt how to sew on a button, that skill could come in handy one day!

Lovely Lerry, Yr.11 class, has constructed a fab. hat for her little sister. She created the badge as well. Great '21st C. Needlewoman' work Lerry.

Another wonderful 21st C. Needlewoman is Claire, from my 2017 Yr. 13 class. She presented an excellent 'A Small Fashion Collection' project inspired by Freida Kahlo. To put it in the vernacular, Claire is awesome!

Look at these two Year 8 'Needlewomen' Totally focused on their construction task! They had finished the class project, so got stuck into an extension exercise using some leather scraps I have.

Wonderful result girls!

Fab Yr. 7 21st Century Needlewoman work! Dr Who fans, obviously!

A number of years ago Emily took on a project, which in many respects is a legacy of her Fabric Technology time at Marist College. A great project working with the RE Dept.

The result, fabulous, thank you Emily. Every time I see it, I remember you. You were a 21st Century Needlewoman before I even conceived the concept!
