The Dyslexia Paradox

Dr. Nadine Gaab, an associate professor of Education at the Harvard Graduate School of Education, will review typical and atypical reading development and the brain’s role in creating these outcomes. She will explore the screening process, the response to screening, and the need for evidence-based reading curricula. Offered in partnership with the Wakefield Special Education Parent Advisory Council (SEPAC), this virtual event is suitable for caregivers of students at all grade levels and will take place via Zoom at 7 p.m. 

A certificate of attendance for professional development will be available for participants who attend the live session. You do not need to be a Wakefield resident to attend this virtual session.

Nadine Gaab is an associate professor of Education at the Harvard Graduate School of Education. Her work focuses on early learning trajectories with an emphasis on language/reading development within a learning disability framework as well as the translation of research findings to address challenges in educational practice/policy. She is a recipient of the Academic Research Recognition Award from the World Literacy Foundation, the Learning Disabilities Association America Award as well as the Norman Geschwind Memorial lecture and the Alice Garside Award from the International Dyslexia Association.
