  Based on the Günter Grass novel, it looks at 20th Century German history  through the eyes of  Oskar, a child with an advanced intellect who stops growing at the  age of three.

Set in Danzig (Gdansk) with World War II looming, Oskar refuses to conform to the middle class ways of his parents and instead takes the tin drum given to him for his third birthday and uses it as a way of protesting against the world.
