Community Composting
Did you know that food waste in landfills generates methane and carbon dioxide, which contribute to global warming? These greenhouse gases are by-products when organic matter decomposes underground, without oxygen ("anaerobically"). In contrast, when organic matter decomposes naturally with oxygen present ("aerobically"), harmful gases are minimized.

Composting is an excellent way to reduce landfill food waste and avoid greenhouse gases, while generating a nourishment for vegetable and flower gardens. But... having a compost pile of your own can be time-consuming and a general hassle. Here at Willow Grove, we have community compost bins, and everyone is welcome to contribute appropriate food scraps. Please see Guidelines, below.

To find the bins, drive past Cluster 83-87 and follow the gravel road. You'll see them on your left as you approach the brush pile. Questions? Feel free to contact Karen Prieto, #53.
