MINAUE

Minaue is one of two republics situated on Waikoa Island off New Zealand. The island was settled in prehistoric times, but was resettled by humans only in 1965, when the Republic of Waikoa was established. It was under Mevu guidance from 1971, until independence was restored 1974. In 1979, the island was divided into two states, Minaue and Takavau.

Waikoa is a fertile island, and agriculture, horticulture and viticulture find excellent conditions.

Exports include the world-famous Tarava red wines, many kinds of fruits and vegetables, and fish.

Minaue and Takavau have also become the favourite sunshine holiday resorts of Antarctic citizens, and numerous hotels have been opened in recent years. The island has a busy airport, a busy cruise liner port and also a large commercial port, including steamer lines between the various member states of ACCR.

Minaue has 700.000 inhabitants.

President is Mr Auava Lehamina (since 1988).
