Closed Access Mode

Closed Access Mode adds a level of security and control to your questionnaire(s). A participant must provide a valid token in order to submit responses to a questionnaire in Closed Access mode. Closed Access mode is similar to a password protected questionnaire without requiring that you create full user accounts for each questionnaire participant. Closed Access mode is recommended for all questionnaires available on the publicly accessible Internet. Questionnaires hosted on a private, local network may not need Closed Access mode enabled, but ultimately the decision should be dependant upon your unique requirements.

1. Select the questionnaire for which you wish to enable Closed Access mode, and click the "Tokens" icon (a group of three people)

1. Click "Initialise Tokens"

1. Click 'Continue"

1. There are many options for generating tokens. We'll cover the most basic manual entry method here. Click 'Add new token entry', the icon with the paper and green 'plus' symbol. 1. Fill out the relevant fields and click "Add token entry". Note that there are options of the number of times a token can be used and token expiration dates. You can use that fields depending on your requirements.

1. You will be displayed with a success message. Repeat steps 4-5 for each participant requiring a unique token. If you choose to use the same token for many participants, set the "Uses left" field in step 5 to the number of participants you intend to use that unique token.

1. Once you are finished adding tokens, log out and visit the URL of your questionnaire. Instead of seeing the questionnaire, you will be presented with a screen similar to the one below which prompts the user to enter a token.
