Wat Lao Saysettha of Santa Rosa is a nonprofit Buddhist organization practicing Theravada Buddhism, located in the heart of Santa Rosa, Sonoma County, just north of the San Francisco Bay Area.
Our mission is to preserve, practice, and share the teachings of Theravada Buddhism while promoting and celebrating the rich Lao culture, traditions, and heritage within our local community and beyond. We welcome everyone—regardless of background or faith—to visit our temple, learn about Buddhism, and experience the warmth of our community.
We invite you, your family, and friends to participate in our religious services and community events throughout the year.
Daily chanting and meditation are available for those seeking peace, mindfulness, and spiritual practice.
Please call before visiting to ensure a monk or volunteer is available to welcome you.
Join us during our monthly Boun (Buddhist merit-making) celebrations to participate in Tak Bat, the traditional offering of food to the monks. This meaningful practice is an important part of Buddhist life and provides an opportunity for the community to make merit together.
Please refer to our temple calendar for upcoming event dates.
Whether you come to participate, observe, learn, or simply say hello, everyone is welcome at Wat Lao Saysettha.
As our temple continues to grow, we are working on several projects that will improve the temple grounds, support our community, and preserve our traditions for future generations.
We are seeking donations to install solar-powered lighting along the pathway connecting the Sala (main gathering hall) to the Naga Garden. These lights will provide a safe, beautiful, and illuminated walkway during evening ceremonies and religious processions.
Your support will help purchase:
Solar light panels
Decorative lamp posts
Installation materials
One of our highest priorities is to pay off the temple's mortgage within the next five years. Becoming debt-free will allow more of our donations to be directed toward religious programs, community services, youth education, temple maintenance, and future development projects.
Every donation, regardless of size, brings us one step closer to securing a strong and sustainable future for Wat Lao Saysettha.
Our temple grounds offer a unique opportunity to preserve the traditional Lao practice of cultivating tropical fruit trees, medicinal plants, flowers, and culturally significant vegetation.
We have designated a gardening area behind the Sala where volunteers can help plant and maintain a beautiful landscape that reflects our heritage while creating a peaceful environment for visitors.
We gratefully welcome donations of:
Tropical fruit trees
Native and ornamental plants
Seeds and gardening supplies
Shade trees
Flowers and landscaping materials
Together, we hope to transform our property into a vibrant sanctuary where nature, culture, and Buddhism flourish in harmony.
Whether through volunteering, attending ceremonies, participating in cultural events, or making a donation, your support helps preserve a place where future generations can learn about Buddhism, embrace Lao traditions, and build a strong sense of community.
We sincerely thank you for your kindness and generosity.
May you and your family be blessed with peace, good health, happiness, and prosperity.
Everyone is welcome. We look forward to meeting you at Wat Lao Saysettha of Santa Rosa.
