1. Class Objectives/Goals. Students learn how to use JavaScript to create drawings & animations.
2. Common Core Standards being taught:
Computer science teaches students to think about the
problem-solving process itself. In computer science,
the first step in solving a problem is to state it clearly
and unambiguously. Once the problem is well defined,
a solution must be created. Computer hardware and
peripheral devices must be selected or built. Computer
programs must be designed, written, and tested.
Existing software systems and packages may be
modified and integrated into the final system. In all
phases, the computer scientist thinks about reflective
use of computer time and shared resources. Building
a system is a creative process that also requires scientific
thinking. With each fix of a bug or addition of
a new feature, there’s a hypothesis that the problem
has been solved. Experiments are designed, data are
collected, results are analyzed, and if the hypothesis
is untrue, the cycle repeats.
3. Class Agenda
Complete Vocabulary or Bellringer
Explanation of Assignment - there will be a new assignment every day
Students work on completing the daily assignment
On Fridays there will be a literacy test. There is no make-up for this test make sure you are here Friday.
Bellringer - on Monday this will be vocabulary, on other days it will be a fact of the day.
4. Homework
Complete assignment in the library during lunch if you do not have enough time.
Classroom Rules
Cell Phone Policy - you can use your cellphone for classroom assignments (vocab and checking your grade). If you call or text someone during the class your cellphone will be confiscated and your parent can pick it up in 118.
All assignments are on my website: https://sites.google.com/site/wardmaribeth/
When students complete their assignments they will send them to me at mward@cps.edu
The subject of the assignment will be the name of the assignment.
For printing, students need to go to the Library during lunch - there is no working printer in this classroom.
If you forget your login/password go to the library during lunch. In the meantime login using
userid = .\school
Password = Student!
Domain = this computer
In order to get headsets students must surrender their IDs, no exceptions.
Students can use headsets during class, unless the teacher asks them not to.
Before the students leave for the day (8th period) turn off the monitors. (Computers can stay on as they hibernate.)
If students disturb other students or disturb their participation points will be taken away
If there is a problem with a computer move to another one.
Kleenex and wipes are in the bottom drawer of my desk.
If you help someone you get extra credit. I will give you your points at the end of every month.
If you have an excused absence I will take assignments up to one week after they are due.
Check your grade every week!
