Waimarama held its Whanau Ora/ Stakeholder consultation Day on 7 September 2012. There was good attendance with around 50 odd people from numerous health and social service providers who came to support the kaupapa (Marae based Health clinic) as well as good numbers from the hau kainga. There were representatives from HBDHB, HBPHO, Te Taiwhenua o Heretaunga, Te Kupenga Hauora, St Johns, Childrens Health providers among others. The Marae presented the kaupapa of the Clinic and the aspirations of the whanau/ hapu. Leigh Hikawai presented the findings from our whanau surveys and highlighted the needs of the whanau. We then broke into groups (based on specialty, i.e. nurses, social workers etc.) to kokiri the issues and where the providers can support. The providers really appreciated the invitation and offered a wide range of services to the Waimarama whanau. We are looking forward to our clinic opening in November 2012
