Tiakitai Marae Wananga

Whanau had a week long wananga to discuss whakapapa, moteatea, haka, waiata from Waimarama. This is all part of our 25 year reo Maori strategy "kei noho wawata noa....kia eke!". It is also a fundraising opportunity for Tiakitai Marae to raise a putea to restore Its whare tupuna in Havelock North. It was an awesome week, especially for our tamariki who were able to learn and recite their whakapapa and pepeha by weeks end. A huge achievement for each of them considering many were too whakama to stand in front of the whanau at the start, by the end of the wananga they were all keen as to stand and recite enei taonga tuku iho. No reira, nga mihi ki te mana whakahaere o tenei wananga, ara Te Marae o Tiakitai me nga putea taunaki a Te Whare Wananga o Awanuiarangi. Ka wani ke koutou!
