Lucius Bowen, alias Pinto, is the great-great-grandson of Lucrece Posey and the original Pinto. A former career criminal, he grew up with tales of his ancestors and was given a name similar to Lucrece's. When he couldn't afford to let his real name be known on his jobs, he took the codename Pinto, in honor of his great-great-grandfather. He holds both of them in the highest possible esteem.
Following a failed attempt to carry out a contract on Mrs. Leonard Hull, Lucius is approached by Alexander Waverly of the United Network Command for Law and Enforcement. Lucius has key information about his employer, Buddy Blackburn, and his work with international spy organization THRUSH. If Lucius will agree to give U.N.C.L.E. all of the knowledge he has about Blackburn, and help them topple his plans with THRUSH, Mr. Waverly will extend a position as an U.N.C.L.E. agent and member of their assassin division to Lucius. Fearing a contract being taken out on his own life by Blackburn, Lucius agrees.
Lucius is a wild card with a unique sense of humor and an insatiable love of apples. He gets along fairly well with Napoleon Solo and Illya Kuryakin, other top U.N.C.L.E. agents, with Illya warming up to him first. Although he is trained to get the job done and not care about anything else, Lucius comes to care deeply about the others at U.N.C.L.E., particularly Mr. Waverly, and becomes cold and hard if Mr. Waverly is endangered. He also loves his family and vows to never do anything to make life difficult for them.
He is thrilled and amazed by Lucrece and Pinto appearing in the present day and enjoys spending time with them whenever possible. Although wounded in the fight against THRUSH's doomsday machine, Lucius is invited to the wedding, which they hold in the hospital chapel so he can attend.
