I.T Activities

I founded this organization 14 years ago to enhance IT knowledge of students of this area. In the beginning I conducted quality IT activities with a few students and they won several island wide IT awards. There were some TV and press media who made some documentaries about us and we got famous. That's why world bank projects provided us with satellite internet connectivity which last for only 3 years. Those days I taught around 25 students and most of them became professional IT workers. They still give a hand to the next generation to enhance their level of education.

Because of Sri Lanka's civil war 10 years ago, the connectivity provided by satellite, was banned. After losing the connectivity we were isolated again. But I did not give up on our project, I started to teach English to our kids.

Foundation of Goodness came to help us and we started VILLAGE HEARTBEAT CENTER .

2016/08/04 we received fiber optic internet connectivity which is very advanced technology in Sri Lanka.

During 2005 - 2008 we won several IT awards. In the binning we named our organisation "Aruna Computer Club" after that we changed it to "Lak Aruna Foundation".

TV documentary about our project 10 years ago.

Those days I could get a few more desk top computers from our well-wishes and I provided them to the students who best at I.T.

Therefore, they also had the chance to work on their IT knowledge at their homes.

After connectivity enabled our I.T activities almost stopped,

Now we have a quality I.T room with air condition and good internet connectivity after 8 years later....

Have a look at our old I.T room..

In 2012, we received a good quality community center from Lak Saviya the organization which conducts by Sri Lankan expatriates from Australia..

Now As a Village Heartbeat Center

Now we have internet connectivity.

My ambition is to develop IT knowledge as well as showing how to use the internet to do some research for their studies.

Our village was also nominated as an e- village of Sri Lanka by the government. That's why my ambition for next year is to make it a smart-e-village.

To do so I try to find computers for talented students since the parents of the children in our village are not in good financial conditions to buy a computer for their children.

That's why I ask you to bring us one or two laptops.....!!!!!!!!!!!!
