Once the very centerpiece of the VMA as the Zingers (08-13), they morphed into the Wings in 2013. Several roster changes came after Commish Hurrell stepped aside as coach and the legendary Paul Grelle took over at the helm for the Wings. A rocky first season battling to stay out of the cellar ended on a high note with an epic 1st Rnd loss to the Rats, 4-2, in one of the all-time classic VMA playoff games. Year two of the franchise saw the team get off to an (0-5-0) start and with diminishing season ticket holders and a thinning fan base, the franchise abruptly folded and shut its doors on Nov 2nd. Not the way some of the greater legends of the VMA intended to ride off into the sunset. They will be missed.
