They were a newly formed "expansion club" in the 2014-15 VMA season - but were hardly that, rather a familiar crosstown foe in a competing league. Under the umbrella of Silverback Hockey Incorporated, they were known as the Apes. And they played like 'em. Vicious, vile and continually victorious. Through two seasons The Silverbacks went (28-8-3), won the VMA Cup (2015) and instantly ascended to be hailed as the crown jewel of the VMA. They are the first VMA club to don shoulder patches and they are the third club to have a corporate sponsor: Boraczek Septic and Drain. In their inaugural season the Apes won the VMA Cup in a 2-1 series win over the youthful Bauer Rangers in 2015. After the company's stocks tanked when the papers uncovered their CEO filtering investment funds through Lenny Dykstra, the Silverback product line went belly up. And was sold for .04cents a share to a couple or heroin addict high school kids in Portland, Oregon. Now the team has fallen back to their original name of yester-year... as the dreaded Elephants and going by the Tusks. In their 4th season (2017-18), they again won the Cup making them 2X champs.
