Vita Larry Picture Book Unit Plan.pdf
My Picture Book Unit focuses on fluency, comprehension, and vocabulary. The central topic of this lesson is reading comprehension, writing, and oral communication.. Students will learn pre-reading, during reading, and post-reading strategies to help them understand the story. This unit allows the students to incorporate reading, writing, oral communication all while teaching them moral values. Kind deeds and helping others is never a waste of time. By discussing good character and teaching students how to be good citizens allows students the opportunity to express their feelings, talk about how what they do affects others, and what they can do to "Pay it Forward" and give back and be a good citizen at any age. Reading this story will allow students the opportunity to gain more knowledge about giving back, helping others, and showing good character and citizenship no matter how big or small a person may be. Students will understand that a good deed will always come back to you. Students will understand how kindness can affect others. In addition, Reading and writing are key essentials in life. If you are unable to read and write you will most likely struggle throughout your life. It is important for students to practice their reading and writing skills and this lesson offers them that opportunity. I believe my Picture Book Unit shows that I understand and addressed Standard 6. Reading, writing, and oral communication.
