Virtual Clinic of Dr. G. C. Willis

Dr. G. Christopher Willis (1923-2012) was a Canadian physician, medical educator, researcher and preacher.

He dedicated himself to medicine and missionary endeavours, working in Canada, Bermuda, Singapore, Borneo, Ethiopia, and Japan.

He was a professor of medicine at the University of Hawaii in Okinawa, Japan and the head of the ICU component of the emergency department at the Montreal General Hospital.

From 1959-1967, he ran a medical practice in Sandakan and the jungles of Borneo and developed his unique clinical style. He could diagnose more than 90% of patients solely on the basis of history, physical examination and simple bedside laboratory tests.

His ability in bedside diagnosis and medical education was so outstanding that he has almost become a legendary figure among Japanese clinicians.

He wrote two books on clinical medicine. These books, "Bedside Medicine" and "Clinical Laboratory Methods for the Office or Outstation" are not published in English, but their Japanese translations have had remarkable sales.

As he had no interest in fame or money, he declined to publish his books in English. He recently agreed to have his books transformed into computer files and allowed them to be downloaded by everyone in the world, in order to help clinicians, especially in developing countries. We now have access to his clinical teaching methods from his books and YouTube videos, at no cost.

Thank God for this great opportunity!

Dr. Willis went home to be with his Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ in the early hours of January 2, 2012, with his wife Margaret by his side, at home.

"We know that when these bodies of ours are taken down like tents and folded away, they will be replaced by resurrection bodies in heaven--God-made, not handmade-- and we'll never have to relocate our "tents" again."
