CYCLING HISTORY
In this section we invite members to share their knowledge on the history or Local history of cycling by sharing stories, articles or photographs. Perhaps more important are articles on repairing older machines - But we dont intend to go as far back as the Hobby horse or Bone shaker !
It is amazing how the popularity of these bikes lasted partly due to the ease of manufacture and somewhat bravery ( or should that be bravado of their riders ) . Also because long distances could be covered on them and at the time reasonable speeds the other factors were costs and legal actions over patents. So the Penny farthing or Ordinary as it was sometime called held up the development of the " safety " or modern bicycle.
