CYCLING CLUB

A meet up for a Vipra Bike ride down the Trans Pennine Trail ( plus the camera man of course - thanks Kev ) the first chance we had due to other events and bad weather - what's new on that one ! 2nd June 2015 . A video of the trip is available to view at the Mission for members .

Some recent pictures of our club ride to Dunham Massey August 2016

We have a few local residents who are quite experienced on repairs so why not come along join our club and get your bike fixed. The repairs may only cost you the parts or perhaps nothing at all . Anyone wishing to come along is most welcome to share their knowledge and stories of bike rides . we will be in touch with other cycling organisations from time to time and it is likely we will hold a few film shows and have advice sessions from these organisations. Health and safety is always important so we would encourage all cyclists to wear a crash helmet and take proper maintenance of their bike seriously .

Repairs

some of the more adventurous or shall I say thrill seeking may want to come along and discuss their experiences . You may be able to arrange some rides out on more rugged terrain.

There is also the Westy Bike Project a great group of young men who repair and sell bikes at a very good price so we can put you in touch with them should you need a bike ( or as in the case anywhere these days) had one stolen .We may get the local neighbourhood Policing unit to come along for help and advice .

Mountain Bikes

So we are not all mountain bikers but there are still some good off-road rides suitable for racers, both local and out of town trips. We aim to strike a balance beteween bikes and abilities. Therefore if you prefer racers come along on those or perhaps you cant tell us of some local pro races worth seeing as spectators - present author bit long in the tooth now to take part . If you are interested in all things racing bike come and join us.

Racing Cycles

Whether it is a talk about bikes or racing in the old days on modern stuff we want to hear from you. Perhaps at a later date a section on historical rides - history of bikes or even a selection of our member pictues of their own personal great rides can be put on this website . Perhaps you could share exhibition or race information e.g. like the great bike sale they hold at the Manchester Velodrome each January. Are you going any transport available ? etc .

Chat about race Info history, Sales etc

We may not have a group this size but there are plenty of local and rides out where we can go for a few riders on dedicated cycle routes. Check out the trans-pennine trail and the National cycle network. Having cycled the TPT from Hornsey to Warrington I know the importance of maps and the right equipment. Unfortunately ( and not to be repeated a friend and I did it Army style ). So any maps that can be shared as with my cycle rack for cars - the more the better.
