A Shared Life Can You Help

• Got a spare room? You could provide a home for someone on a long term basis or with the aim of learning new skills to move on in time,

or for a few nights each month.

• No spare room? You can support someone in their own home to ensure that they have a great life in their neighbourhood whilst still

involving them in your life; or maybe just a few hours a week, in the day or evening, to give their family a chance to recharge the batteries.

You can also broaden someone’s horizons and accompany them on holiday.

What type of support can I offer?

Single people, couples, families with children can all apply to support someone.

Who can be a Shared Lives Carer?

Shared Lives carers offer support in or from their own homes, within their local community.

People who use the service may need support all of the time, or just with a few aspects of day to day living.

Would you like a new challenge where you will make a difference and gain as much as you give?

Could you support someone to live a full life in the local community?

Could you share aspects of your life with an adult with a learning disability?

Do I need to have experience of supporting someone with a learning disability?

No formal experience is required as MacIntyre will provide any necessary training –you do need to interact

well with people, have a desire to make a difference, a willingness to involve people in aspects of your

life and an ability to connect people with the local community.

Do I get paid for the support that I provide?

Yes, Shared Lives carers receive payment for the support provided, depending on the

type and duration of that support. ( perhaps you or someone you know in Latchford or other areas of Warrington could offer help ).
