Kristin Hageman

Kristin Hageman is currently a PhD candidate in the Johns Hopkins Department of Biomedical Engineering. She received her BS in Biomedical Engineering from Case Western Reserve University in 2011 with a focus in neural engineering.

Kristin has been with VNEL since 2012. Her research focuses on enhancing Multichannel Vestibular Prosthesis (MVP) circuitry and extending MVP technology from encoding only rotational motion to encoding all aspects of head movement. She has completed work to integrate a custom-made Application Specific Integrated Circuit (ASIC) with the MVP system that allows for reduction in prosthesis size and power consumption.  Kristin is now taking advantage of the expanded features the ASIC allows to study the feasibility of electrically stimulating the utricle and saccule, parts of the inner ear that normally encode head tilt and translation (nonrotational) movements.
