Students need one 3-credit hour Wr flag to fulfill their Core requirement.
CNS majors need an additional Wr flag.
One of your writing flags needs to be upper-division (BIO 177, 277, 377 are all upper division credits)
BIO177 Wr flag will not fulfill the Core - but can serve as the 'additional' writing flag.
Students who take a UGS303 class that has a Wr flag cannot use UGS303 Wr flag to fulfill their Core as the UGS303 already completes a Core requirement and one class cannot be used to fulfill two Core requirements.
VDS students that take the BIO177 will need an additional Wr flag from a 3-credit hour class. This could be they take the BIO377/CH369K/BCH369K (with Wr flag) the following fall or they get it from some other course (other than UGS303 and that does not fulfill another Core requirement)
So, if you take the fall VDS-FRI class for BIO177 (1-credit hour) and BIO206L (2-credit hour), then you will have your ‘additional’ writing flag needed for CNS, but not the ‘Core’ writing flag requirement (which needs to come from a 3-credit hour class).
If you don't need BIO206L and want to get a 3-credit writing flag, then take VDS-FRI in the fall for BIO377/CH369K credit)
