We just published a review on interactions between transcription factors that are members of different families. Such interactions expand the molecular toolbox for plants with mechanisms to control gene expression patterns and to adapt to their environment. As we describe in this review, the biological implications and the molecular mechanisms involved in cross-family interactions have now started to be elucidated.
