Our paper on mining minimal motif pair sets maximally covering interactions in a protein-protein interaction network just appeared online. It describes an improvement of our previous protein interaction site prediction method SLIDER. Both methods use protein interaction networks and find motifs in sequences of the proteins which can explain as much as possible the interactions. The improvement described in this paper enables to predict such interaction sites in much more proteins than with our previous method. Note that last year we also described how using additional biological data could improve prediction performance, using an extension to SLIDER called SLIDERbio. It might be a good idea to combine that approach with the approach described in our new publication, but so far it is still an open question how to do so.
