As a follow up on the previous post, we now published a paper in which we use predicted gene functions to prioritize candidate genes in Quantitative Trait Locus (QTL) regions. QTL regions indicate parts of a genome statistically associated with variation in a trait such as e.g. flowering time. The problem with QTL data is that such regions often contain dozens or even hundreds of genes. Our method uses predicted gene functions in a number of QTL regions for one and the same trait to indicate the most likely candidate genes underlying the trait as causal gene.
