Headlight Current Comparison

The stock headlights with filament bulbs that came with most Maddog scooters are really dim and consume a lot of power.

Here are a few photos using my DC power supply, current meter and volt meter to show the difference in amperage consumed by different headlight types.

Stock Filament Bulbs - 4.77A @ 13.6V = 64.9W

7.5" LED Light Bar from Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Auxbeam-Waterproof-Auxiliary-Motorcycle-Headlight/dp/B00T9GC18K

This is listed as a 36W light bar.  It only consumes 1.95A @ 13.7V, so it is actually a 27W LED Light Bar

The stock LED headlights for the 2015 Maddog consume very little power, but still put out more light than the stock filament headlights.

On high beam, they consume 0.50A @ 13.6V, eqivalent to 6.8W.

If you are worried about killing the battery in your scooter, switching to an LED headlight system is a great way to reduce power consumption.

The LED light bar wins hands down for maximum headlight output, but requires some wiring knowledge.

The stock LED headlights are basically plug and play and work much better than the stock filament bulbs, but should really be hooked up to DC.
