Our speaker for April will be Jane Bromberg, from Kansas City, MO. Her presentation will be "Finishing up your quilts". This will feature a trunk show featuring over 40 quilts that highlight various forms of edge finishes. Jane focuses on the many different design choices available to quilters as they finish the edges of their quilts. Techniques range from the very simple to the more complex, from pieced bindings to bindings pieced to match the quilt top’s piecing. Other topics covered are facings, added accents, and edge treatments. There are unlimited options to spur your imagination!

I present both sides, historians and storytellers, and let you decide." Some say this was an integral part to freedom, while others say it is just folk stories- time to take a look at this controversial topic, examine the facts, and see what you think!

For the New Year, we will start with a terrific presentation, from "Across the Pond"! Dr Kate Strasdin who is a Senior Lecturer of Cultural Studies from Falmouth University, Cornwall England, will present to us "The Dress Diary of Mrs. Anne Sykes." This is a dress diary kept by an Englishwoman in the 19th century, full of fabric swatches of clothes belonging to her and her family. There is even an American connection - one of the women featured in the album is Maria Balestier, wife of the first American Consul to Singapore and daughter of Paul Revere. Her clothes swatches are included.
