Sept. 4, 2018   Stephany Wilkes       a certified American sheep-shearer, with a book coming out in the fall              Raw Material: Working Wool in the West

October 2, 2018  Patti Zimmer      fabric artist, designer, watercolorist:  a presentation on her process and design, printing on natural and synthetic fabrics

November 6, 2018  Our November speaker is Julia McLeod a partner with Silk & Salvage - new quilts from rescued materials. She will be speaking about making quilts from reclaimed silks and other materials, using alternative resources for fabric, identifying fibers with slide presentation as well as showing the quilts.   https://silkandsalvage.com/

Presentation with hands-on display of 19th and 20th century Japanese textiles including indigo, shibori, katazome, kimono, and sashiko pieces. Discussion of history, techniques, design meanings, and insight into how politics, economics, and environment have shaped how/when/where/for whom these textiles were produced. Q & A session at end of lecture includes a handout with explanation of Japanese textile terms. Trunk show at end of lecture

Feb. 5, 2019   Julienne Weston she grew up here in Lafayette and for 36 years owned a fashion line and clothing boutique in San Francisco. She recently closed her shop and will give a presentation about her life in fashion, design and retail.

Laura works with her own hand dyed wool yarn, as well as creating her own designs for her award winning rugs

April 2, 2019  Michelle Paganini  "Upcycled Fashion"

From Michelle's website:  "Upcycle Sewing is different than sewing with flat cloth; the starting materials are previously owned garments.  Working with existing garments to make new fashions is both rewarding and challenging."
