The day of your Grading is when you perform your kata and spar (see the Kyu belt requirements page for more info).
Gradings are held at 9am on the first Saturday of March, June, September, and December at the main dojo in St. Thomas, Ontario, and once a year in April at UWO (in-class). It is highly recommended that you arrive early to change and warm yourself up. A grading fee of $60 does apply to all belt gradings.
It is also recommended that you sit in on a Grading before your own. That way you get an idea what to expect at your own Grading.
On the day of your Grading
you need the following:
• ALL YOUR SPARRING GEAR •
This includes head, hand, foot gear and mouth guard.
And if you have them, shin and forearm pads.
You may borrow from the club but gear is limited. It is recommended that you
ask someone ahead of time to borrow their gear if you don't have your own.
• YOUR GI •
Make sure that your gi is clean and pressed.
Make sure your crest is positioned properly on your gi top.
(Talk to one of your Senseis if you're not sure of its positioning)
