Renshi Anne Barnfield
Renshi Barnfield has been studying karate for more than 25 years. She started training in Shotokan karate in England, earning a Shodan (first degree black belt), then moved to Canada and began training in Shorin ryu. Renshi Barnfield is also a second dan in Matsumura Hakutsuru (White Crane karate). As a Psychology professor Renshi Barnfield is interested in the psychological aspects of Karate and Karate training. Among her courses taught are two specifically looking at the psychological effects of physical activity: Psych. 2037A/B Psychology Applied to Sport and 3337F/G Mental Health and Physical Activity.
Sensei Robert Hudson
Sensei Hudson has studied karate for 16 years. He attained sandan rank in Shotokan karatedo and joined Legacy Shorin Ryu Karate Jutsu several years ago. He was recently promoted to yondan in Shorin ryu.
Sensei Hannah Barltrop
This is Hannah's fifth year involved in karate club and her second year teaching with the club. She holds a third degree black belt in goju-ryu karate and is currently in her first year of Law School at Western, having graduated from Ivey Business School in 2019. When she can find some spare time, Hannah can be found debating world issues in Model United Nations or rocking out at concerts (she is still slightly deaf from Def Leppard this summer) .If you want to win her over, we suggest showing her pictures of your pets, as she misses her puppy Oscar (see right) more than her family or home-cooked meals while in London.
