Nava will give a talk entitled “Emergent soft theorems near the black hole horizon”, based on his upcoming work and with the following abstract:
Abstract: I will first briefly review Weinberg's soft (photon and graviton) theorems in flat space (essentially text book material from Weinberg's book). Then, I will review how the soft graviton theorem is related to BMS supertranslations at null infinity (1401.7026). I will then sketch how near horizon scattering processes result in new emergent soft graviton theorems for large black holes and how these are likely related to near horizon supertranslations. I'll finish with how these soft theorems may lead to a proof of a version of 't Hoot's antipodal identification on the bifurcation sphere of an eternal black hole.
