We are happy to share freely our reagents to the academic research community, and to licence them to industry. In 2012, we fulfilled 76 such stock requests; a lot of people are interested in the genes we characterized!
Unfortunately, our senior tech/lab manager is now spending about a third of his time running our de facto stock centre, and fulfilling often rather casual and broad requests.
So we have decided, in line with several other stock centres, to introduce a Material Transfer Agreement (MTA) and a $25 handling charge per reagent ordered. I'm afraid that 'sharing freely' does not imply 'free of charge'; rest assured that we're probably still subsidising our reagent distribution from our research grants, so please bear this in mind if you get one to review.
If you would like our published reagents, please contact julian.dow<at>glasgow.ac.uk in the first instance, specifying exactly what you want ordered. We'll check to see if it's still available, and arrange an MTA and invoice to be sent out. On completion, we can ship materials without delay.
Thank you again for your interest in our work!
