We think that science is both exciting to do, and important for society, and are keen to spread the word whenever possible!
Here are some of our outreach activities.
Our kidney stone story:
Our outward-facing website (with picture gallery) is here, at: https://sites.google.com/site/tubulesite/Home
And for twitter and Tumblr, I’m “@tubuleguy”.
We have a long history of funded engagement with industry, particularly pharmaceutical and agrochemical. Our partners have included Pfizer, BASF, Syngenta and Bayer. We are always happy to talk to new partners.
"Images of Science" - a poster display along the banks of the river Clyde, organized by Glasgow Science Centre: http://www.glasgowsciencecentre.org/iosintroductionpage.aspx
Our "science" geocache is at: http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?guid=e880287c-7e4d-4197-b662-7fd3b6a1ecf6
We also try to exhibit at Glasgow University's public open day each year.
Each year, we host a group of sixth formers from Singapore's Hwa Chong Institution for a week of lab work, and then advise them on their projects during the rest of the year.
Some photos of our 2013 cohort.
The visit was arranged by group alumnus Dr David Kelly (PhD 1996).
The visit of sixth-former Laura Terry was arranged by postdoctoral alumnus Dr Adrian Allan.
