Research

My project title is Module Human Inborn error metabolism diseases in Drosophila.

In this project we are going to select one or more important inborn errors of metabolism diseases, to find out if the homologous gene was mutated in Drosophila. In this way Drosophila flies can be used as a model for metabolomic conditions to see how closely these flies resemble the human condition and the similarity between the metabolic pathways of Drosophila and human beings. Then, according to obtained results, we can critically judge whether Drosophila can act as a successful model of the human metabolic disease or not. Moreover, this project could lead to future research on Drosophila applications in human metabolic diseases by screening for possible therapies or the screening of human samples by metabolomic techniques.
