In the first professional meeting of Beta Alpha Psi on 11th September, we were glad to welcome Sarah Bates from EY and Katy Hiatt from ONEOK to be the speakers.

The event began with the self-introduction of officers. Companies' representatives also shared information of their internship opportunities with students.

Thank companies representatives for attending the meeting and sharing updated information with students. Thank sponsors for supporting the work of BAP during this academic year.

Katy came to the stage first. After briefly introducing the company and recruiting information, Katy focused her presentation on candidate profile.

Then, David Martin from ONEOK came to give audiences helpful suggestions about resume writing. Suggestions can be summarized as "Do" and "Don't".

"Do" included listing experience in chronological order, highlighting important accomplishments, and summarizing relevant work, volunteer, and leadership experience.

"Don't" included avoiding the use of online resume format and deleting unnecessary statement of goals and targets.

Later, Sarah Bates shared tips for interview success with audiences.

To get prepared, interviewees were suggested to do researches online, attend company information sessions, do regular practice, arrive on time and be well-dressed.

During the interview, avoid vague and illogical answers by using SBO method when answering the questions; be curious and do not hesitate to ask questions.

Finally, in the Q&A session led by BAP's vice president, Sarah Otto, common questions related to the working culture of these two companies, application process, and career fair issues were asked and answered.

Again, thank Katy Hiatt, David Martin, and Sarah Bates for their presentations; thank members, candidates, and companies representatives for attending the meeting. Thank officers and Dr. Miranda for organizing and preparing the meeting. Hopefully every applicants would be well-prepared for the career fair next week and finally receive a satisfactory offer.
