2.22-23 BAP Southwest Regional Meeting

Post date: Mar 13, 2019 6:11:2 PM

Check out 2019 Beta Alpha Psi Southwest Regional Meeting! #bapregional

The meeting started with the first guest speaker—Geoff Roberts. One useful lesson learned—beware of making mistakes on incrementalism, which is a serious grey area problem. From Obvious Good to Obvious Bad, the dramatic transfer cannot easily be completed within one single day. However, it is common that companies or decision makers move a little bit towards bad direction every day. Watch out this incremental drift! By focusing on outcomes and collecting different perspectives from various sources, we can try to avoid incrementalism.

Followed by the lecture, there was a 3-hour leadership activity. Through Pechakucha Icebreaker game (everybody finds five photos and describes 30s per photo), each group with around 11-12 people got a chance to know better about every group member. After that, an interesting negotiation game was held. Different groups acted as soprano’s agent and opera. We discussed within our group and negotiate with other groups to meet an agreement on the soprano’s salary. The last leadership activity was Helium Sticks. Communication is the key to success!

Another full day for the big event! Great presentations were given on topics from Great Practice: Root, and Workforces Ready Skills, and Ethical Issues, to How To Be Standout Among Jobseekers.

Also check out the food provided!! Hope more our members and candidates can get a chance to participate in this summer's and next year's BAP meetings!!
