YOUTH ORCHESTRA OF BUCKS COUNTY:
The YOUTH ORCHESTRA OF BUCKS COUNTY, Pennsylvania (YOBC) was founded in 1991 with the sponsorship and support of Bucks County Community College. YOBC creates opportunities for young musicians to achieve artistic excellence through enriching classical music experiences. Students come to YOBC with a special love for music and a desire to develop their musical talent. YOBC provides these students with advanced musical training to enhance and supplement their school programs. In 21 seasons the organization has grown from a single, 60-member ensemble to eleven ensembles with over 250 young musicians.
Membership in the YOBC is open to young musicians in elementary grades through high school. Members should participate in their school instrumental music programs, if available, and take private music lessons.
All members must audition prior to placement. Entry is based solely on proficiency, not age. Move-up auditions are scheduled at the recommendation of the director of a member's present ensemble. There are 8 large ensembles and 9 chamber groups, and all instruments are welcome.
Pennsylvania residency is not a requirement.
