Band Scholarships

2026 Harry S Truman Band Booster Scholarship

Each year, the Harry S Truman Band Boosters award $500 scholarships to two college bound senior band members.  This is based on a 250 word essay done by a senior student.  All essays must be emailed as an attachment. Your name or identifying content can not be mentioned in the essay. 

Essays that do not follow the directions listed below will be disqualified.  You also must be in good standing with the band boosters to qualify.  

All completed essays must be emailed to trumantigerband@gmail.com by midnight on May 10, 2026 There will be no exceptions! Submitted essays will be evaluated by an independent panel.

The scholarship recipients will be announced at Truman Honors Night. 

A check will be sent directly to the college that you will be attending when proof of a student ID number and the address of where to send payment is provided.  

The topic for the 250 (maximum) word essay is:

Describe the effect your participation in the program has had on you throughout high school and how the experience has or will affect you in the future.

General rules for the applicants:

• All applicants must be a senior of the graduating class of 2026.

• All applicants must be in good standing with the band boosters.

• All essays must be emailed to trumantigerband@gmail.com as an attachment with no names or identifying content on the attachment.

• All applicants must be accepted to a college or technical school

• All applicants must be a current member of at least one of the following groups for at least 2 consecutive years: Marching Band, Color Guard, or Jazz Band.

Again, all essays are due by midnight on May 10, 2026. No exceptions!
