Letter to Scouts and Scouters from Mr. Tigges

Post date: Apr 11, 2011 3:34:32 PM

My Fellow Scouts & Scouters of Troop 79,

After much deliberation and soul searching I will be relinquishing my position as Scoutmaster from Troop 79. The past two years all of you have taught me a lot about boy scouting, as you have led your troop with the boy-led concept.

Scouting is something that once it is apart of us, stays with us even when we leave it. I have seen many of you grow and advance these past two years and will always remember the times we have had has great memories. Even spending time in the Emergency Room with some of you!

I challenge you to stay in scouting and make it your goal to reach Eagle and share what you have learned with friends and acquaintances as you continue down life’s path.

As I depart as your Scoutmaster, I leave you in good hands with Mr. Willit as he will assume the role and duties of Scoutmaster for Troop 79. Mr. Willit has an outstanding track record in scouting and has many ideas he will share with you that will make Troop 79 a fun and exciting place to be.

Officially I will hand over Troop 79 to Mr. Willit on Tuesday evening 3 May 2011. As I step down, fear not I will still be with you as an Assistant Scoutmaster and will continue to join you on camp outs and see you occasionally at troop meetings and fundraisers.

As Lord Baden Powell stated; “The most worth-while thing is to try to put happiness into the lives of others.”

I can say to each and every one of you, you have made my life richer and fuller because of our association. As we scaled the Mountains of Colorado, camped in the cold at Trappers and enjoyed the summer breezes of Sea Base, I thank each and every one of you for the happiness we have shared.

Hope to see you all, along the scouting trail!

Yours in Scouting

Mr. Tigges
