Hello Parents and Scouts of Troop 79,
I hope everyone has enjoyed their Christmas break and had a Happy New Year! Our first PLC meeting is coming up soon so we must prepare ourselves for our next year in Scouting. Let me start with our PLC meeting on January 6, 2013. Each Patrol should have decided on a new Patrol and Assistance Patrol Leader. Please email those results to Mrs. Morris at anne3421@aol.com <mailto:anne3421@aol.com> I will need all the new Patrol Leaders and current Patrol Leaders at the PLC meeting on Monday Night, 6pm sharp. Please wear Class A for this meeting. I will bring enough pizza for everyone so just come with pencil and paper for notes. I have attached a Patrol Roster so that calls can be made by the current Patrol Leader if necessary.
Our first Troop Meeting will be Tuesday night, January 7, 2013. It will be a meeting conducted by the Rocking Chair Patrol. They will cover the cold weather camping program. I have attached the program so that you might start preparing for the Trappers Campout. Let me just high light some points, the Scout must have a bed roll to put his sleeping bag on, if all you have are summer sleeping bags, he will need two of them. He can put one inside the other, that works well. He needs several changes of clothes, once they get wet, either by outside moisture or body sweat, they need to be removed before going to bed.
I am very excited about Troop 79’s next year, we have many Scouts that are Life in rank and hopefully soon to be Eagles! We hope to have a new group of Webelos coming into our Troop, but we also have a lot of our new Scouts ready to help them with the skills they have learned this past year. There are many things going on in this World that make people depressed, but this Troop and these Scouts, give me hope!
Sincerely,
Jim Keester
