Troop 295 was chartered in 1988 by the Harding-Blaine American Legion Post #321. Troop 295 has continuously promoted the Boy Scouts of America program to young men in the Richardson, Plano, Murphy and Wylie areas since its establishment. The Troop membership has averaged around 42 Scouts for the past 10 years and boasts more than 80+ Eagle Scouts in its nearly 30 year history. During the school year we meet the first two Mondays of each month at Canyon Creek Presbyterian Church located at 3901 North Star Road in Richardson. During the months of June, July and August we meet the first three Mondays of the month at Canyon Creek Presbyterian Church. Meeting times are from 7:00 - 8:30 PM.
Scouts completed the Aviation Merit Badge at the Frontiers of Flight Museum at Love Field. This was a rare STEM class opportunity for a merit badge that's only offered 3-4 times a year. Scouts got a chance to fly a flight simulator following a route plotted on an aeronautical chart and to experiment with the four forces of flight, They also leaned how an airfoil generates lift and more!
Scouts actively engaged in rifle and shotgun shooting. A few scouts even completed their merit badges.

Scouts actively engaged in a variety of merit badge activities. These included Fishing, Photography, Citizenship in the Community, Movie making, Communications, and Art. They demonstrated their diverse skills and commitment to personal growth.
Scout and adult teams of 2 participated in orienteering course challenges that traversed Camp James Ray and which were organized by the North Texas Orienteering Association. Scouts also built a swing using their vast array of knots.
Scouts explored the Inner Space Cavern in Georgetown and earned the Wilderness Survival Merit Badge. In order to receive the merit badge, scouts slept in a structure made by them for one night. Scouts also learned essential skills like signaling, water purification, and other techniques for outdoor survival.
Scouts completed 10 miles of hiking whilst working on the Birdwatching Merit Badge, as they explored Kerr Scout Ranch in Tishomingo, Oklahoma. Scouts had a great time exploring the unique rock formations of Kerr Scout Ranch, such as the famous Rainbow Rock.
Christopher and multiple scouts made a wooden sorter this morning for the Plano ISD Robotics Academy. The Eagle Project went well and we finished by the afternoon.
This year we went to Medicine Mountain Scout Ranch in the Black Hills of South Dakota! Scouts completed a wide range of merit badges, from Boating to Mountain Biking.
Scouts learned how to safely and effectively utilize shotguns and rifles. In addition, scouts utilized a Tri-Pod lashing to make hot chocolate over a campfire.
We recently went geocaching and hiking near Broken Bow, Oklahoma at Beaver Bends State Park. Scouts gained knowledge on how to use Orienteering devices such as GPS's and Compasses, whilst also building their situational awareness on how to respond to different situations while hiking.
