Aplomado Falcon - Presidio Co. January, 1992. Aplomado Falcon. This species is not on Review List A due to problems in distinguishing wild birds from reintroduced birds in the Lower Rio Grande Valley. However, an unbanded adult photographed and videotaped northwest of Marfa, Presidio during its stay 2 January - 26 May 1992 was accepted as a naturally occurring vagrant for a variety of reasons TBRC# 1992-15, TPRF #1154). The bird was found in superb habitat in rather close proximity to a recently discovered wild Aplomado Falcon population in the nearby state of Chihuahua, Mexico. Photographs documenting this record, considered to be the first valid one for the U.S. in over 20 years, were published in AB 46:289 and 46:332.
