MNHS has created important events in MN History. What is unique is that it is broken down in what has happened in years ago rather than by particular date. The timeline is chronological dating back 500 years!

American Crossroads Teaching American History Grant- Soldier's Heart Lesson Plan
This has less technology, but uses primary sources & integrates social studies and language arts.
Civil War: Reporting from Beyond the Frontline
This two day lesson was created for the Ford's Theater Civil War Teacher's Fellow. It focuses on the emotions of our nation after Lee surrenders and and then again after Lincoln is shot. Students use interactive notebooks to record their observations & feelings of the time as reporters. A Pinterest Board was created to show all sources used.

Applications: iMovie, Flip Camera, Internet
Minnesota Commercials- Webquest
Students mailed letters, emailed, researched, & collected information on cities around the state of Minnesota. Then they wrote the script & used still photos in iMovie trying to persuade people to visit their town. We worked in groups of 2 - 3.

Applications: iMovie, PowerPoint, Internet
Students wrote their own "how to" writings in class. This was done without technology. Then they planned pictures and illustrated each step using Kid Pix. Then we converted pictures into JPGS and added them to iMovie. Students recorded their voice and added garage band.
Students used their voice expression & reader's theater voices to record these podcasts. We worked as larger groups and I had another helper take groups out to record in our "studio".

Students make boards, working on skills of presentation, font color, size, etc. Work on incorporating all literary needs to meet standards. Great evaluation as well as sharing books that they love!
Google Presentations- Roman Gods & Famous World Locations- Roman Colloseum
Students researched and worked on the presentation that is very much like Powerpoint. Accessible anywhere! Students working in groups were able to contribute as well...no flash drives to take home!
Also as a way to present information....can work on anywhere!
Art Projects- The Scream
Recently we talked about the artist Edvard Munch. I created a Docs presentation, we took pictures of the kids as "the scream" and created their background with the medium of chalk. Then later students used "Doozla" in their tech class to recreate their art. Free Mac Download!
