You can always get a park in Willis Street.
Their mother told them as she cleaned their feet.
Is it, as one child asked, because no one likes that park?
We could understand that if it was night and dark.
She mulled her reply as she cleaned their toes
And then she listed some cons and pros.
One reason is it's just really big.
We could understand but what if someone parked a rig?
It's also because it's a bit far from the stores.
We could understand that – it suits people with a stride like yours.
It's also because other parks are nearer.
We could understand that as their costs'd be dearer.
They continued pondering as she washed their hair.
Not speaking much. Though if they did she didn't care.
Their faces were dirty - she scrubbed them clean.
Thinking of car parks and a new washing machine.
It's the birds she said. That's what I surmise.
We could understand that – birds drop stuff from the skies.
Now their ears . They were always quite dirty.
She looked at the time – it was almost 10:30.
And then she was washing their arms and hands.
Nearly finished. She was thinking of different brands.
You know. I'm not really sure of the reason she said with a sigh.
We could understand that they said but we'll soon find why.
You won't today, she said, now they were clean.
I'm going shopping without you.
So mean.
