There are a number of ways to view maps on the internet for free, including Ordnance Survey Maps.
The links below will make your search easier:
Bing Maps - Directions, trip planning, traffic cameras & more OS maps dropdown menu top RH of window.
https://magic.defra.gov.uk/ All sorts of interesting layers including OS maps (colour option LH of page2). If you have connection to the internet via WiFi or phone signal, you can even see these on your phone !
GPS Planner (Walkhighlands) This allows plotting of GPS routing and yields GPX files, but you need to register with them (seems harmless) to do this at OS 1:2500 scale. Update: this site has been changed to only show 1:2500 maps for Scotland and the far north of England. If you are planning a walk in Scotland this will give you the best possible maps to work from.
OpenStreetMap Often the best map of any country in the world, but to download them to a device is a palaver done through 3rd party applications e.g. FreizKarte Overview (freizeitkarte-osm.de)
If you have a Google account a very good map plotting system is https://new.simonlikesmaps.com/

For those who wish to print maps the process is simple with a PC. Although most of these websites include a print icon, it is often best avoided because their software often restricts the portions of the map you can print from.
Anything displayed on your PC screen can be saved into the `clipboard` by tapping the `PrtSc` key on your keyboard (top row of keys R of centre). The resulting image can be opened in any graphics programme using `Paste` (Ctrl V). All MS Windows operating systems contain `Paint` as part of the basic software. Open Paint and paste the image in. Simple editing functions will allow you to `Select` and `Crop` the image to taste. You can also draw on it etc. `Print Preview` will allow you to choose how you want it to appear on paper before printing.
