THORNBURY RAMBLING CLUB
OBJECTIVES:
To bring enjoyment to its members through an appreciation and love of the countryside.

To endeavour to preserve footpaths and means of access to the countryside.

This is the site for Thornbury Rambling Club, based in the community of South Gloucestershire

There is news about the club, listings of walks and photos of recent events.

Thornbury Rambling Club arranges walks to suit all grades - Ambles (up to 4 miles at an easy pace) Leisurely ( 4-6 miles), Medium (6-9 miles) and Long (over 9 miles). Depending on the day of the week there could be more than one grade of walk arranged. As well as walking locally, walk destinations cover a wide area from Cotswolds to Exmoor, the Brecons to Wiltshire with lots of places in between! There are walks scheduled for mid-week and weekends, and during the summer months, evening strolls. Unless otherwise stated all walks start at Rock Street Car Park (RSCP) in Thornbury and lifts are arranged at the start of each walk.

The club also has a strong social side with regular talks, slide shows, evening socials, barbeques, coach trips and weekends away. We also arrange for longer walks (7 days away) and have organised walking holidays in Switzerland and Italy.

There is an active footpath section which works with the Local Council to maintain and improve the standard of footpaths in the Thornbury and surrounding area. Any problems can be reported via this site (using the webmaster link below) or reported via the Ramblers Association ( http://www.ramblers.org.uk/go-walking/report-a-path-or-access-problem.aspx ) who will pass the report onto the relevant Local Government

Details of the walks are always in the Thornbury Magazine and Gazette.
